Girl Play!

Adam went away last week for FIVE NIGHTS.  I panicked the week beforehand and told him I needed him to shorten his trip.  Then the day before he was suppose to leave I got to thinking...Adam will be so grateful to me if I tell him to go ahead for the full five days...he'll be so appreciative and he won't complain about the amount of shopping I do while he's gone...and I'll bet he'll feel obligated to give me a girls' night out or two or three and I bet he'll take Charlotte to dance class.  WORTH IT!  And he deserves it.

So, eventhough the day he left I had major dental work done and was sore and numb and embarrassed to smile or even talk when his dad and his uncle showed up, I encouraged him to go. But I cried a lot, right there in front of him before he left, sobbing but telling him to go.  It wasn't because it would be up to me to get both girls to bed by myself (we divide and conquer on a regular basis) and not because we live in the city - not because I was scared.  I was going to miss him.

But while the boy was away - oh, the girls did play!  I was determined we would shop and play and all sleep together in the big bed.  Toys R Us shopping spree, dinner at Zaxby's - Charlotte's favorite.  We went to Monkey Joe's and watched Snow White, I took both girls to the mall with me because they love the elevators and the cookie shop but it wasn't quite as relaxing as I was expecting.  They went bananas in the shoe department at Dilliards.  I was hoping to convince Charlotte she wanted some Keens - the perfect shoe for her, a summer "tennis" shoe that isn't hot.  She wouldn't even try it on.  Then they spotted the Fancy Nancy dresses and the fitting rooms and we actually all went in to TRY ON DRESSES.  I'm still amazed I escaped that store with my sanity...we picked out cookies and while they were eating those I sneaked into Ann Taylor, so I guess the trip was a success but it was not relaxing...partly because every time I slowed the double stroller down, Char escaped.  Char spotted the "bling" crocs and it was over, had to have them.  I think we now have 7 pairs of Crocs in the shoe basket.    I played a lot of barbies.  Field Day at St. Luke was tiring, it was on Friday and I was wearing thin but then we headed to mom & dad's so I could catch a bit of a break.  Charlotte has been "very worried" about her Hoppy and she was an excellent and caring nurse while we were there.

I also took advantage of Adam being away and being in Atlanta and we went to the FARMER'S MARKET!  Love.  We toted the wagon...not so much for the girls as to help load up the plants.  Ruby did not want plants in her wagon.  Noni was with me, so I had her pick out the plants I needed, ferns, hibiscus.  Is it weird that one of my most favorite plants is the asparagus fern?  Blame it on Savannah.  I know it's an odd choice...but I love 'em.

The girls even got to see their baby cousin Evie that day.  Cute.

Adam made it home Sunday morning - with PJ and Uncle Bruce.  Oh it was good to see him.  I even had butterflies before we pulled up!  I missed him, he missed me.  It made it all worth it - I think it made us appreciate each other more.
